OK, so here's the deal. I'm trying to help my buddy with a basketcase '08 FLHX he's got. Basically, the top end of the mill is jacked up with mis-matched parts and, for now, we're trying to establish what he has so we can figure out what he needs. I turn to y'all because I know the collective knowledge is gonna be where the solution is.
The heads are missing and the jugs have a part number of 16794-04. We know that the bike had a 110 (dealer upgrade) before it was stolen/stripped. Does anyone know if these jugs are for the 96 or the 110 or is there any way to tell just by that part number?
Also, the bike has a smartsiren, the key fobs are missing and the code was changed from the factory code (we think). Can the smartsiren be removed/bypassed without having to replace the ECM?
If it's a 110 the cylinder bores will be 4". 88s and 96s are 3 3/4". Not sure about the newer security system, but the older one on my '02 is in the turn signal module. It's a TSSM rather than a TSM.
this is an easy one. measure the bore of the cylinders, if they're 3 3/4" they'll be for a 96 or 88 inch motor. if they're 3 7/8" they'll be for the 95 or 103 inch motor, if they're 4" they're for the 110. i'm not sure but i think the security can be removed as it's an option when you buy a new bike so it's added on but i'm not sure about if that's removable or not. someone else will likely chime in on this.
