What did you want it to 'eat'?
First thing to 'touch down' on most any bike is the pegs/floor boards.
Some Harleys do it sooner to remind you to slow down..and enjoy the ride.
I ride will the sides of y shoe just hanging over the edge of the floor board. (Cheaper to buy new shoes that floorboards!) LOL
It's absolutely normal. I'm on my third set of floorboards on this particular bike. Just enjoy the experience. It's only scary the first dozen or so times, and then it's kind of fun watching the guy behind you as they see the sparks. They're easily, but not cheaply replaced.
Perfectly normal at any speed. Watch "Ride like a pro" videos and you'll see them take a few mils off theirs going 1 mile per hr. The faster the scarier tho!
Again, roads and hiways aren't race tracks, you might know what you're do'in but cagers generally don't. Besides I recall many times around here anyway that in the middle of the day in the middle of the curve stands a nice fat, cornfed 200+ lb. Whitetail ! Better hope theres Harleys in heaven.
