Replacing that worthless air temp guage
Last August on I-85 down here in NC, at 3
m on a Saturday afternoon, when we were having one of our many 95 degree days, (and no wind,) I got stuck in the traffic jam from hell. 9 miles between exits, 1 hour and 15 minutes to get through it all. Air temp guage showed 114 degrees on the asphalt. Half walking the bike and half feathering the clutch, I actually considered pulling off and shutting it down. But I didn't.Weeks later, I changed out the Mobil V Twin oil and filter at its scheduled 5000 service as I have done two more times since then. The oil looks the same everytime, the bike still doesn't need oil between services and I just turned 87,000 miles on an 11 year old bike.
And the oil temp guage would have helped me how?
As far as the "Powerlet" idea, I did istall this into one of my saddle bags, and I love it! Has alot of connections that you can get and I charge my phone while driving and my ipod when parked! GREAT product! And VERY VERY useful, just not sure if I want to look at it all the time by having it in the fairing!
Good Luck!

Time to ditch the air temp gauge and see if it's time to pull over and take your meds!
Can't see the time on my aftermarket stereo worth $hit during the day.
Will most likely be getting one of these soon. Who cares how hot it is inside their fairing?

P.S. Just pulled the trigger on the Retro Clock on the right:
