I have the quite baffles (103, se255 ) and they are nice on the highway, but if you get into it they are still loud...I don't use the insert as the muffler is quite quiet without it...mainly bought it to not wake the neighbors up in the morning commute, it does a good job...

Are you running The Dyno Tuned 3.5 Jackpots? I'm more sensitive to louder pipes then I used to be and I find the Jackpots to be pretty mellow. Maybe I just got too used to The Vance and Hines Propipe?

yes, I have the 3.5" jackpots, with a v&h power duels head pipe...I found that the se255 cams made it much louder...that is why I put in the quiet baffle...before the cam the sound was perfect...But, actually in the last few days I have put the original jackpot muffler baffle, which is loud, but as long as I don't do a long trip on the highway I can live with it..I find that if I go on the highway with the original baffle for more than say a half hour my ears are ringing when I get off...

Ahh Yes, the cams will definately add not only to your added enjoyment, but also to the exhaust note as well. I was just curious, as I've become more sensitive to very loud exhaust recently as well. I guess I'm just doing more touring. The standard Jackpots for me are just perfect with a non cat Cobra Power Plus head pipe.

If youve never used it I can practically guarantee if you bought it from FM they will take it back with a full refund....I bought a QB with my set awhile back and ran it for couple hundred miles and FM was gracious enough to take it back...never hurts to ask?
Getting back to the OPs question, it runs better without the QB and it quiets right down at highway speeds...but keep in mind Im running a catless stock bike with just a VIED. The more fuel you toss into the mix the louder an exhaust tends to get...I will let a pro explain why, I just know it does.

I have the older HD Touring Performance mufflers 65259-00 that originally came on the CVO (and in the catelog) bikes with the 103 engine from '03 to '05 before the EPA crackdown. These have the EPA stamp on them, flow better than stock (at least on my 88") but may provide you with what you are looking for. I use them only for touring. But your build is pretty strong, and a lot of the CVO guys dumped them, but we all do that I guess. Maybe not the answer, don't know?

I am inquiring about this same topic as I have the Jackpot 3.5 slip ons and like them, however they have become annoying on the highway. I am looking for input on what to do. I found a company on eBay that is offering up quiet baffles with the insert, but they are asking $50 plus $10 for shipping I believe it is each......so I would be looking at spending $120 roughly to quiet them down. Anyone with some input would be great.

Right, but it was a new request on an old thread
