Yesterday I installed a mounting kit so I could attach quick release sissy bar and luggage rack. I noticed today that a bolt on the left side is damaging the saddle bag when I open it. I've attached pictures. Has anyone experienced this before and can maybe give me a solution to this problem?
Yep. Same thing happened to me. Those kits don't come with a warning. I'm not familiar with the hinge stop. I'll check it out. I'm just careful how I open the dang bag.
I bought a used '09 RKC with the same issue, mine also hit the sissy bar. I installed the hinge stop kit and the problem is solved. The kit was about $35, it also moves the rear of the bag a little further out. I used some leather conditioner and pretty much got rid of the blemishes.
