Default Ohlins set up on Streetglide

For those of you who have installed Ohlins on your touring bikes, I'm curious about your set-up. What is your weight, where is your preload set, and how many clicks out is your rebound set?
Thanks in advance.

I have the no clicker version and my sag is set at 12mm with no rider and 25mm with rider(210lbs). Haven't you already been on the Ohlins rollercoaster once before and sold them, or did you buy your Ohlins from the guy I'm thinking of?

3-3s on an '06 SG: 225lbs, 11 clicks, yellow springs 00180-79/25 pre-load to 199mm spring length, the adjuster run down to its shortest position, a little less than 1/3 total travel sag. This set up is a little firm for spirited riding but still forgiving when you encounter those ocasional nastys. The bike sits about 3/4" higher unladen, but drops to the normal SG height when mounted.

Model: #2-3 (13ź")
Bike: '07 SG
Weight: 170 lb.
Preload: Preset by Motorcycle Metal at lowest setting . Perfect loaded or not, no need to change.
Rebound: Non-adjustable
Impressions: Excellent ride and handling. Strongly recommend for a similar setup.

Another owner of Howard's Ohlins here, #3-3, so my adjusters don't click. I have adjusted preload to give one third sag with both my wife and I on board and haven't changed them since then. While I originally intended having settings for both solo and 2-up, I have left it like that. Rides fine solo and truly wonderful 2-up!

Have the 3-3s changed at some point, mine are about 8 months old and the damper ajdustment definately clicks. I'm only running my solo setting also, it handles the occasional passenger just fine.

No they have not changed. This is what happened to me. I installed the 3-3 and backed the dampener to the end and started counting the clicks to make sure they are both the same. Apparently when you turn them to the end you have to do it with a feather light touch, if you snug them down, they will break. Not actually broken, they still work, but the waffled washer inside that is used as the tension spring will get bent out of shape and you will not feel the clicks anymore, although the adjuster still works. Howard said I cranked on it. I did not, I only hand snugged it down, I didn't know until after the fact that you have to use a FEATHER LIGHT TOUCH, and I do mean feather light. Howard called Ohlin for replacement parts, Ohlin wanted to charge me (not Howard's regular contact), but Howard waited for the guy he usually deals with to be there and got the parts for free. They are now fixed and in the mail on their way back.

So everyone be very careful when adjusting the dampeners (black ***** on the bottom). Turn them VERY lightly, when they stop, that is it, do not make sure by adding a little more pressure.

I do not yet know how I will like the Ohlins, but I have to say here, I am a little concerned about having something on my bike that brakes with anything more than a feather light touch. I see problems in the future. I should probably put a warning label on them so no tech or friend touches them. Nothing on a motorcycle should be that delicate.

I misread the OP's query! I'll shut up and agree they click....

I use more than a feather light touch, in fact I would say that I apply pretty firm pressure when bottoming the damper ****, mine still "click", but I will definitely be sure not to overtighten them, thanks for the heads up, I wasn't aware it was an issue.
