hey guys, my 07 street glide is new to me. was on a 05 heritage before. so my question is at what rpm does the rev limiter kick in? did a little test today. got on it in 3rd pulled hard all the way to limiter @ about 6200 rpm. i didnt think it would go that high. my old 88b 5 speed didnt. any ideas?
sounds like it has the ECM flashed either with a HD stage 1 or with a tuner that actually reflahes the ECM cause I think the stock rev limit is like 5000 or 5500.
As I recall, stock is 5500 and the stage 1 reflash gets you 6200. I have a stage 1 and I don't think my bike as ever seen over 4500.....Scratch that....Maybe on a dyno run, but never with me at the controls.
Stock rev limit should be 5800. +1 on the possibility of a stage one adjustment increasing the rev limit. For example you can increase the rev limit on the power commander to 6200. But the fact of the matter is that the engine doesn't produce any significant power if any after the stock limit of 5800.
like i said i only had the bike for 2 weeks now. so if i understand what ur saying, it should just go flat after the stock limit. it didnt do that though, it was still pulling pretty hard. do u think its may have some work to engine? i guess theres no way to really know unless i tear down the engine. not gonna do that. guess i'll just enjoy it for what it is. maybe dyno just to see what kind of hp/tq its puttiing out.
From 3,500 to 5K is a good range for a stock to really get up and go. My power curve slows at about 5,200.
Stock was set for 5,200 on my ride but seemed to hit the limiter at 4,700. With my Crane HI4E that I set at 6k and it starts effecting it at about 5,500 which is the max I want on my setup.
Most of the time though I keep the rpm and shift points at around 4,500. That's where the low torque pull comes in and each shift pulls really well. In the higher range it will accelerate much quicker. Either way it tops out nicely just over 100 in 5th @ 4,700

As said earlier the ecm may have been flashed to allow a higher limit. It also may have an aftermarket tuner. Look behind the right side cover.
