Electrical problems
I put new bars on before xmas and did internl wiring, no problems.
Today I rode about 20 miles down for dinner. Left the restaurant and my 09 FLHT stalled 3 times at low speed, low rpm.
The volt meter reads about 15v, the oem battery is right at 2 years old.
I swapped out the oem gauges for a set of used silver faced gauges last week, the old volt gauge read a consistant 16v, the new one 15v. I wasnt worried about it, I thought it was just error between the two different gauges.
I rode the 20 miles home everything seemed ok, just as I was pulling into the driveway the handlebar controls quit working. They would work, quit working, start working ect. Both sides were screwing up.
So do I have a wiring problem or a battery problem, or both?
Up until now there have not been any wiring problems at all, Ive got about 3000 miles on the bike since the bar change and internal wiring.

it sounds like a harness is loose or other wiring errors. you could be getting a ground short.
I know it sucks, but I would go back and do it all again, take it apart and make sure every wire and harness are in the up right and locked position. You might try conditioning the battery over night and then taking the bike out tomorrow and see if it changes it. If conditioning the battery doesn't help it would sound like wiring to me or a really bad battery.
by conditioning the battery I mean leave it plugged into a trickle charger overnight so ensure you are running at the appropriate level of charge.

I've had several similar issues with my '09 Ultra Classic for the past year. Fortunately everything was taken care of with the warranty. Now that the warranty has expired one month ago I havent had a single problem. Go figure!

I had Advance check the battery, they say it is good. Im going to pull the outer fairing and look at all the harnesses.
What seems odd is that all three times the bike stalled it was at low rpm, and when the switches went haywire it was all of them on both sides of the bars. It seems like if I had a pinched wire or a ground it would only affect one side of the bars not both.

I pulled the outer fairing. The only thing I saw wrong is there is a ground wire with a white connector that plugs into the top triple tree, it was disconnected. I crimped the female end of the connector so it would fit tighter and plugged it back in.
I will put everything back together and go for a test spin. I hope I dont end up pushing the bike back home. I pushed the misses Dyna home last week about a 1/4 mile uphill, that about killed me.
