The wire would need to be an activation control circuit to cause a battery draw. Like a ground signal. The most common battery draw on today's auto/motorcycleelectrical systemscomes from stuck/sticking relays or A/M add on audio video systems.
How old is the battery and do you have/use a battery tender when the bike is not used for short/long term non-operational conditions.
What electrical modifications have been done if any.
You very well could have a failing battery. When was the last time you operated the bike. You also need to know if the charging system is functioning properly.
A grounded power wire would blow a fuse or melt the wire. This would not cause a sustained battery voltage draw.
Thanks for the replys, here is a link to another post about my problem,(https://www.hdforums.com/m_2273776/m...tm.htm#2291597) if you have any further advise for me. I have done all the work myself to date on the Dyna, but electronics is not one of my strong points.
A quick update, the bike is holding charge after I have bundled up the data cord and zip tied it neatly and securely. It did have some pinch marks on it, so from the responses received, I am considering that as the likely culpritt.
