All,
Since being a proud owner of my first bagger for a week now. I want to take a little time to get more safety add ons my bike before any chrome. I have a list of priority features and would like some of you folks to give me some tips or feature add ons you have done to be mopre safe from cagers....My bike is a 2009 FLHPI. I know you can't be 100 percent safe but better visibility and sound of your bagger might save your life some day. So here goes....
First - Replace stock pipes with CFR slip ons.......I like to be heard when approaching a cager from behind or passing.....Is this a good choice?
Second - Add some reflective gear to bike.....What kind for a FLHPI?....
Third - Definetely some HID light assemblies....Which one is the best to get without being illegal.
Fourth - A very loud dual air horn....which one to choose...so many out there.
Highly recommend BAS (Bright *** Light). I've had mine for a couple of months and it works! Cagers stay off my *** and I feel much safer since installing it.

i think your putting way too much thought into it.just drive like you have a bullseye on your back and the cagers are aiming.you'll be fine
I will be buying the run, turn, brake harness and the led tail and signal lights for mine. All from HD, I've had my turn in the barrel with the aftermarket lights and compatibility issues. The air horn is a good idea also. I don't buy into the loud pipes ideolegy but I do run the V&H power duals with monster ovals. I had horn on my Venture similair to HD's premium air horn kit. I used it one day in a parking lot when a shopper who wasn't paying attention nearly ran me over and the reaction of the driver and passenger when being startled still makes me laugh to myself today. I think that was a Wo-Lo bad boy horn. As stated by a previous poster, just riding like you're invisable is the best defense.
I also highly recommend the BAL series of tail lights from BrightAssLights. I ran the combo rear brake/turn signals for over a year and still had too many people run up on me from behind. The BAL by far exceeds the combo units.
I also run Custom Dynamic front and rear signals in yellow and a HID bulb in 6000K on the headlight. The ballast for the HID does cause a bit of FM interference so I use a iPod often.
I have the run/turn/stop combo with the BAL1 on the rear. i also got the Harley LED head light. very very expensive, but i really like it. you will be seen before you are heard. i too have the loud pipes, but i only have them cause the stock Harley pipes sucked and my Harley sounded like a BMW when i got it. i also have dual air horns. here is a write up i did when i put them on my scooter. go about midway down and you will see the pics.
+1 on just ride it! No matter what you do people are just not going to see you. I have a ultra with the trunk & its full of lights & still was almost rear ended because she " didn't see me at the stop sign"
