Default Noise in primary

I have a noise, sounds like it is coming from my primary, when you have the engine off and transition in natural if you move the bike back and forward you can hear a crunching or grinding like noise. Can anyone help me with this.

If you have a crunching or grinding noise in your primary when you are in "natural", you should either pull some primary covers if you feel comfortable doing it, or get the bike to a mechanic ASAP. If it is crunching or grinding, I don't even think that I would ride it any further.

Check to see if your drive belt is rubbing against the front of the rear fender when you are pushing the bike in neutral. Makes a grinding noise that can sound like it's coming from the primary.

Default noise?

I notice my 07 road glide doing the same type thing. With engine off and pushing the bike back or forward, it was making a type of clunking noise coming from the back of the primary.
I put the bike on the lift, when spining the rear wheel ,it would make the noise and you could see the belt kinda jump or vibrate to this noise until it stopped turning.
I loosened the axle bolt and "slightly" tightend up the belt tension.
This elimanted the noise. I guess the belt was just too loose?
The bike has 37k miles and this is the first time I have moved the rear axle to put any more tension on the belt since I bought the bike new.

Do you all agree that the belt was indeed too loose?
thanks........Raw
