I am trying to find the right windshield to put on my 2008 Ultra. I recently purchased a Cee Bailey's SSC 11" that equals an 8". It vibrates way too much for me and I am getting hit with lots of wind buffeting. I am 5'10". I like the dark tint so it has to be below eye level, but if this is as good as it gets I'm gonna put the stock clear shield back on. Any suggestions?
I'm 5'11" and I've had stock that was too high, 10" light smoke was nice, now I have 6" dark smoke and really like it. It's all about personal preferance, good luck!
You could give LRS a try. I just took off the 12 oem shield and put on the 8 (medium tint) Ultra Flat Top from LRS and it works nice. Im 5 8 with a Mustang Low down seat. If I didnt do the seat drop I would have chosen the 9 shield.
I actually did my first ride with the new shield this morning and it works great. I could actually get by with the 9 however I want to make sure I have a nice view over the top. This shield is going to be mainly for warmer weather. I just got a second 12 clear shield from LRS and will use it in the cooler season.
Check out LRS, they have been running daily Hoka Hey Ride auctions on this site. They have several sizes and clear to dark
Put the tallest windshield you have on the bike.
Use a crayon to draw a line at eye level so when you sit on the bike in a riding position you look right through that line.
Now use another crayon to draw a line an inch or two under the first line.
That's the height windshield you need. Measure at the center top to bottom and you have your number.
If you don't have a windshield tall enough to begin with you can extend the short shield with a piece of cardboard.
Freedom Shields with the recurve.I'm 6'1" got a 10" dark really like it. I think it protects better than 12" oem and I can look over it instead of the through the top.Puts the wind over me well enough bout got a 9" but didnt want to put more wind on the wife.
