RG owners.. How is the stock windscreen on the custom that I've seen, it's the really low one, that just about comes to the edge of the fairing? Does this do a good job of putting clean air on your face? Only preventing it from smashing into your chest? Or does it make a mess of the wind?
If it sucks, what options do you use? I've seen some with no windshield at all.
I've heard rough things about buffeting on RG's lately, and don't mind wind in my face, just don't like buffeting.
I had one on mine for a summer and didn't like it. It looked cool, but it seemed like it pushed more wind right at my head. It was more comfortable riding a bike with no fairing at all. Took it off. Wasn't worth the coolness.
I rode my RG less than an hour with the stock POS. It was like someone sitting behind me beating my ears with ping pong paddles. I could not even hear the radio above 50. I put on the Klock Werks 8" shield and I am now getting just the right amount of air. In colder weather I might go to the 12" shield.

you did better than me, i couldn't hear the radio over 35, lol... i replaced that pos with the hd windsplitter which works very well for me.
I rode mine a couple days , yea it looked cool but if you plan on riding any where at speed it sucks , got a stock one off a 07 from a buddy will cut it down a inch or so and it'll work untill I find one I like . jim

I didn't even try it.... I was at the dealer when my bike was delivered..... I told them to not even mount it. I brought a Clearview with me to mount on my new ride.

I got the 14" ..... last year going to Sturgis a truck kicked up a rock an hit my old windshield, putting a nice gouge in it. If I had a lower shield, it would have gotten me right at eye level.
I like looking through windshields.
I also have some kind of curse when it comes to birds. I've hit Buzzards, Hawks, and all kinds of smaller birds.
