My '99 carbed I have had up to 115mph by my speedo, but my friend who was tailing me on his much faster Valkyrie said his speedo said I was doing 120mph. And that is with the 5-speed. Either way it was fast enough for me.
My modified motor (100+/100+) will "bury" the stock 120 speedo. Don't know what that would be with GPS. That's about 10 mph faster than it would go with just the PCIII, AC, and pipes.
Any nearly stock 96" SG that can break an indicated 110 on the proverbial 'good day going downhill with a swift tailwind' is a remarkable machine.
I had a '62 VW once that would actually go 80 mph if I took off the roof rack and found a long hill.
Been up to 110 several times on speedo, you get the most staying in 5 gear, I plenty throttle left just didn't use it. I have a 107. Someday I'll get the right place and see what she'll do. The stock 96 still did over 100 but not as easily
I had my 07 SG to 90 that's fast enought for me. I had a Yamaha FJ1200 about 10 yrs ago to 135 but you start thinking if you lost a chain or you had a blow out at that speed what would happen?
So anymore I'm just in the cruise mode !
With stage one mine would only do 103 (GPS). It will do a bit more with cams. A well tuned SG stage one will get to 90 in hurry but much past that is a slow climb.
