Default Exhaust Question

The Mrs. says she'll spring for a new exhaust for the ultra for my birthday later this month. I talked with the dudes in the service department at the local HD dealer and they let me listen to a few different bikes to see what sounds good. The guy I talked with said that a two into one setup would actually produce more torque and horsepower than going to a true dual setup.

I'm definitely going to do the full stage one, including new head pipes and air cleaner. So what are your thoughts? The same guy told me that you'll get the better harley sound with the true duals where you can hear each cylinder firing rather than the two into one where it's both cylinders blending together into one exhaust note.

By the way, how much of a fuel mileage (mpg) drop might I see with a free flowing exhaust? I assume the bike will run a little richer, so I guess gas mileage will be less than the 40 I usually get now? Thanks for any suggestions.

I love my D&D fatcat. I have the standard baffle, high flow ac, 95 kit and a power commander. I get anywhere from 35 to 40 mpg depending on wind and mood. It runs like a dream with this setup. I've had it this way for about a year now and I still smile everytime I roll on the throttle.

I recently changed the TDs on my Glide for a SuperMeg. I have an S&S 107 in my bike and picked up around 15TQ in the 3-3,500rpm range. Torque in the upper rev range is the same, as is HP, but bike is more drivable in the normal riding range. I had the bike tuned on a dyno after fitting each system.

Bike runs more efficiently and therefor gas milage shoulg not be effected, (or maybe even go up.)

+1 on the Fatcat. Great exhaust, and I'll have a nice black one for sale next week.

Buy a pair of Wild Pigs slipons (1.75 inch baffles) on ebay. Use the rest of the money
for a night at an Embassy Suites with her; you'll be happier!!!

I recently changed my stock 2011 ultra Limited to the Kuryakyn true dual head pipes, their crusher exhaust, SE cleaner and tuned with TTS. Absoutely love the sound!! Not obnoxious but can definetly make it growl. I am suprised to be getting 42 mpg. (Rumor is that Kuryakyn is made by vance & hines)

I recently put a Fuel Moto stage one on my 2010 Ultra, 4" Jackpot slash up mufflers, their air filter and backing plate, and a new Power Vision ECU, along with their new head pipe to get rid of the catalytic converter and couldn't be happier. The Power Vision came pre-mapped by Fuel Moto and it was all a plug and play operation in my garage. 80 hp, 96 ft pds of torque, less heat, and I even picked up a couple of mph. The mufflers are the ones I've been looking for since getting rid of my Shovel years ago, not to loud at idle or going down the road, but a nice little thump to it. But Katie bar the doon when you stand on it.

Fuel Moto has to be one of the best companies I've had the pleasure to deal with and their customer service is second to none. Price wise, they are hard to beat.

I recently upgraded from stock to the V&H Big Radius 2 into 2 on my 07 Classic. Went with the Power Commander and stage 1 air cleaner and no O2 sensors. Love the sound, bike runs great, went from 40-41 mpg to 35-36 mpg. Some of that loss could be due to the fact that I like to hear the pipes under power.
