Talking Compensator woes solved

Installed the sc compensator on my 08 ultra yesterday. No more grinding on starts and no cluncking on shut downs. I wish the MOCO would address this problem, since so many of us are having it.

How did you do the install of the SE COMP?

I don't have the issues that you have, but mine surges forward on start up a few inches..

There was a thread on here a while back. Told exactly how to do it, wasn`t that hard to do, if you can follow instructions.

Surging forward would'nt be a compensator problem. On cold startup put the bike in neutral. If it surges foward when warm adjust clutch. FWIW, I always start mine in neutral with the clutch lever pulled in. I hear that starting in Neutral is easier on the starter also, don't know for sure.

Yeah you're right.. I always start my bike in gear w/the clutch engaged as I don't wanna hear the "clunk" into gear. When the bike is started after it is warmed up it doesn't surge..

I have waited, at 14K it needed it they won't fix the "normal noise"

Actually, I'm thinking about switching to the SE compensator this season. I'm not getting any clunking or grinding, but I want to see if the SE comp will remove any slack from the drive line. Also some added insurance since the stock compensator is a known issue.
