If you don't have many miles your bike will get a lot better. I was so disappointed when I first picked up my new '09 Ultra (stage one DL/AC, VH slip-ons) but it got a lot better by 5k and by 10k it was better yet.

It's the throttle cables on the '05 that make it more responsive down low. The electronic throttle won't open as fast as the cable operated ones do, so it feels more responsive at low rpms. It can be tuned out.
