Eastside HD doesn't list the replacement fairing bracket they use for the Arc 125.4 amp installation separately for sale, but a member here called them and bought one for $149. Don't see why they wouldn't sell a pair of color-matched speaker boxes; of course, a phone call is necessary to inquire and probably worth doing for those interested. My bike is a custom mix so my local painter will do mine (if I can ever get him to take the time to do it, but that's another story.)

I can't tell for sure from J&M's website picture whether the wiring harness for the kit includes quick disconnects. If it doesn't, they're very easy to add using one of the available vendors (Deutsch, Delphi, et al.).

Frustrating to buy an item only to discover shortly thereafter that a better alternative product is now available. JMJOHN has been posting about the 4 channel amp and fairing lower speaker kit since at least early October 2010:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...l-arc-amp.html

Since I sold my Arc 125.2 in anticipation of the Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp, my fairing and fairng lower speakers have been wired as front/rear speakers w/ fader control and no external amp. My experience has been that this is not a satisfactory way to use the fairing lower speakers; the fairing lower speakers need an amp IMO.

The 2011 CVO SG uses an amp but w/o fader control and seems to work; at least I haven't heard of any owners saying they're unhappy with that set-up. Perhaps you'll be able to wire the fairing and fairing lowers together and be happy with the 2 channel amp.

Perhaps Dr V-Twin or another purchaser of the fairing lower speaker kit will install it using the 2-channel amp and report.

Thanks, Carl. I'm no electronics expert, but my gut tells me that I'm going to need a separate amp for the lower fairing speakers, if I expect to get the kind of sound boost that I want. However, maybe I don't need to get the J&M 500W 4-ch amp--maybe a smaller amp will do.

Yeah I got the bracket from East Side Harley... THe mod looks quite simple actually, I am going to try and replicate it myself...

Just remember that the J&M 7.25" speakers are 2Ohm... The rockford amp will likely go in to protection when driving them because the amp is designed for 4ohm loads...

new J&M ROKKER series 7.25" LOWER speaker kits here: http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....252GTM-T&PF=45 ,,,,

they include the intermediate plug in the harness if you want to remove them ,,,,,

they can be connected with the J&M 4-channel 500w amp of course ((see http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....0HC06-SG&PF=45 ,,,, OR ,,,, for the RoadGlide Custom with LOWER fairings see: http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....0HR06-RC&PF=45 ,,,,

they can also be connected to the J&M 2-channel 250w amplifiers with very good results ,,,, as you would wire them in series with the J&M ROKKER series 7.25” fairing speakers, and then re-adjust the gain settings on both channels to compensate for the change in impedance load ,,,,

the J&M amplifiers all have plenty of power on each channel so wiring them to drive 2 speakers on each channel is no big deal at all ,,,,

we have even installed a 6 speaker system on an Ultra, with our 4-channel amp in the fairing, connecting the front 4 speakers to the front channels and the rear two speakers to the rear channels of the amp, then adjusting the gain controls on the front channel to balance it all out ,,,,

an Ultra set up in this 6 speaker configuration will just jump up and down at the higher volumes ,,,,

remember also that the fairing is the BEST acoustical position on the front of the bike for speakers,,,,, BatWing or RoadGlide ,,,,

no matter which speakers you add to the LOWER fairing position, they will NOT have the bass response and overall sound pressure, that is available from the upper fairing position ,,,,

the special "angle-up" design of the J&M ROKKER 7.25" speakers in the LOWER fairing position, will however, add quite a bit of additional sound for your enjoyment at high-speeds on the highway ,,,, http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....252GTM-T&PF=45 ,,,,

I had the original Hogtunes lower speakers (5.25") and thought they were decent. I recently replaced them with their 7" speakers and there was a dramatic improvement. I would imagine that the J&M lower speakers would do as well. In both setups using a larger amp with the larger speakers is responsible for the difference.

Default J&M lower fairing speakers

I installed the following on my 09 Road Glide.

Arc 125.4 amp, J&M 7 1/4 rokker speakers in fairing and the J&M lower fairing kit with the rokker 7 1/4 speakers.

This was quite a bit of work making the brackets to make the amp fit. But the install on the speakers was straight forward and so was the lower fairing kit.

The results are KICK As$. I can hear the radio at any speed. I have been riding touring bikes for over 30 years. Without a doubt this is the best sounding system I have ever heard on a touring bike while traveling at 70+ mph. It was not cheap but worth every penny to my ears.

Ride safe.
