Had the same thing happen to my 09 FLHX during a highspeed curve lean, but it was caused by the cupping on the sidewalls of the stock tires. Problem solved by new rear tire.
I have had the wobble with no warning going straight down the highway at 65 MPH. It almost threw me off the bike. If you get into the wobble let go of the gas, do NOT use the brakes (you will wreck if you do), and ride it out.
Possible reasons, back tire problem (not balanced or bad side walls), forks need tightening, or vibration from windshield.
It is very dangerous guys so be careful. It happen to me 2 different times in 5 years. I know of a guy that died from it. When the wobble starts it starts violently and tries to pop you off the bike like a piece of toast out of a toaster if your going straight on a road. They guy that died it did pop him off like a piece of toast and his head hit a tree. Broke his neck.

Wow never heard of this but have been watching video and reading articles on it after seeing this. Is this limited to certain years of scoots? I know they changed the FL series frames/swingarm setup in either 09 or 10 did this address any of these "Death Wobble" or "Rear Steer"(as some reports also call it)
...I've been riding motorcycles for over 47 years (Harley's since 1978) and luckily never experienced the "death wobble"...I have heard and read stories of other Harley Riders's talking about the experiences they had.
I'm really glad to see the Phoenix KPHO News Team bring this issue out in the open to inform others of this problem and it's also interesting to see the motor company's quick response admitting issues with wobble or installation of aftermarket parts. I'm sure there is more to come...

I had a wobble situation down in Georgia on I75 at 65MPH, so did my riding buddy. I was ridding my SG and he was a Strat. Scared the crap out of me. It was they way they had paved the road, it caused the bikes to oscillate violently. We kept the speed down to about 50MPH for probably fifteen miles. This guys wobble at 25MPH is not the speed wobble that FLH bikes are known for, this guy had a maintenance issue. Low tire pressure, broken motor mount, something. I have experienced the speed wobble issue and letting off the throttle settles the bike down. The bagger brace I installed works but you can still feel the bike want to go into the wobble of death, the bagger brace just seems to stop the oscillation.
