Quick update....The Carbon Billet mufflers are kaput. I don't know if the guy I bought them from screwed them up, or if it was something I did, but they are no more. Really a shame, 'cause I really liked the sound and the tune was about as good as it could be.
I spoke with Jamie today about my options, and he's hooking me up with a pair of 4" Dyno Tuned slash-up mufflers. I simply cannot say enough good things about my conversations with Jamie, and the level of service I've gotten from him and Fuel Moto. This level of commitment and service is unheard of.
The rivets on the inlet of the right muffler pulled through the carbon fiber. As I said, this is not an issue with Fuel Moto's product or quality control. I bought the mufflers used.

That speaks volume about their customer service. Hat off to Fuel Moto.
But it is enough for me to remove the carbon fiber units from my mod list. I am sticking with the original plan and just getting their ceramic coated headpipes and leave the stock slip on in place. All I need is to get rid of the f* heat coming from the cat headpipes...

The Carbon Billet mufflers kick butt, and I wouldn't cross them off your list based on what happened to mine. As I said, I bought them used and I have no idea what the original owner may have done to them. I also had them shimmed down a bit to clear the axle nut thanks to my 14" shocks. I have no doubt whatsoever that new mufflers and a standard installation would not present any problems.
I discovered the problem last Thursday night as I was getting the bike ready for a road trip over the long weekend. I swapped them out for the stock mufflers, and ran a few VTunes to get the map right (that's another story in and of itself, suffice it to say that I now have graphic evidence in the form of VE tables that it pays to re-map when you change slip-ons). The stock mufflers are nice and quiet at idle and cruise, but sound awful when you whip on them. There was also a dramatic decrease in power.
Thank you for the additional information. I wish they got rid of the rivets, just from a cosmetic perspective. But that would required some screw on solution or some rings to hide them, or some special heat resistant epoxy...

Got the 4" Dyno Tuned mufflers this afternoon and installed them tonight. They look great and sound good at idle. I'll be VTuning tomorrow, more insight as it develops.
Did a few VTune runs this morning, and I'm very pleased with how the bike runs. Oddly, there weren't many big changes to the VE tables, so I'm guessing the reason that I saw big differences between the Carbon Billets and the stockers was due to a ton of reversion thanks to the separated muffler inlet. Throttle response is much punchier than with the stock mufflers as well.
The sound is fantastic. Slightly louder than stock at idle, very reasonable at cruise, and a nice low roar when I'm on the throttle. I hesitate to use the word "ideal", but they're damn close. I'll have a better idea next week when I leave on my 10-day, 5,000 mile trip.
Jamie, you were dead-on; these mufflers kick butt.
Thanks for the great write-up! I'm looking at doing a similar setup on a 2011 103" SG can't wait to check out the CF mufflers when they are back in stock...
I did nearly 4,000 miles last week, and I'm still happy with the mufflers. They're a little louder than I'd prefer at big throttle openings (think maintaining 75mph in the mountains), but they're perfect at level cruise.
