Default Great sound...and not too loud

I have the Cobra tri-ovals. They made my RKC (2011) sound like a Harley and are not so loud that my neighbors complain, even though I live in a townhouse. The look is, in my opinion, awesome, different enough to stand out, but not too different.

+1. I also have their 2-1-2 head pipe, though I know you are on a budget. Get this with Power Vision Tuner, Hi flow air cleaner, and great support on maps from Fuel Moto. I am very pleased with my set-up, and when the time comes, will put the Woods 555 in with Woods lifters and Smith Bros/FM push rods to finish it off.

I bought a 2011 RKC in January and this is what I have learned about exhaust. It comes not only from talking to the dealer but also several who have bikes with the 103. Also, I pinned down one of the Master Technicians who is also an old biker.

First, the CAT is in the head pipe. If you don't deal with that issue you are wasting your money. So, they recommend a new Fulsack head pipe and V&H monster oval slip ones. I heard one this weekend and WOW!. Just enough rumble to make it interesting, nice and deep.

Problem is, now you need the supertune since a remapping is not enough. The last thing is a high velocity air filter (which is the cheapest and easiest of this upgrade). Bottom line is this is all going to cost about $1,750 including shop time. The benefit is more power, better sound an dthe engine will run one hell of a lot cooler so it will extend engine life. This bike is going to last me until I cannot throw a leg over it (I am 58 years old) so I will likely invest the money. It is only 65 degrees here right now and I can already feel the oven on my right leg.

Thanks all.
I'm heading to the dealer tonight to see what they have to say also.

Idaho, thanks for all that info--I had a feeling this would turn into a bigger job. I'll likely have to wait till winter.
