Default fairing hardware help

I put a new windshield on last week and one of the 3 nut zert inserts on the top of the inner fairing pulled out. I thought about getting a good bonding adheasive and glueing it back in, but im not sure it will hold. Does anyone have any experience repairing this problem?

I have no experience repairing the problem, but I have read some posts in this forum where people had to replace them after stripping them out. So glueing them back in should work fine. Have you searched the forum to find out what bonding agent to use?

The MoCo makes a threaded repair insert.Part number is 16585-96. It will thread into the inner fairing instead of press in. I tried to glue it and expoxy it before but it didn't work until I found these. I've replaced two of mine and have the third ready for the last one.

I had to use the MoCo threaded repair inserts after I tried to glue the original back in . The threaded work great.

Use the Harley replacement, it works and stays in better than stock and are around $1 (less than $2).

An optional route it to pu in a nut clip but it would require you to grind down the existing stub that the nutsert is inside of. if you have a nut sert gun you can drill out the old nutsert and order the replacement cert from mcmaster car.

Get the pn#16585-96 mentioned above $1.70. Take your outer fairing off. Take a 3/8-16 tap and thread it into the plastic where the other one pulled out. Take the new insert and put the slotted end into the plastic first. Take your existing 1/4-20 windshield screw and thread it into the new insert and turn it while it threads the new insert in. Unscrew the windshield screw and the insert will be in there good and tight. Reassemble fairing and windshield.
