Crash sux, but we all know u pay to play... comes out the pocket or out the ***!! haha Glad ur whole and like u said.... rebuild it better and ride it more!!
Reminds me that I really need to start wearing my brain bucket, glad you're ok (so to speak).
If the frame & drivetrain are good then I'd push to keep the bike from totaling.
You can do a lot with beat-up bike and 11k. I've done it three times now (for three different friends), every one of them had a color matched frame when I was done.
You just used up two of your nine lives....based on the bike pics, you were very fortunate.
This weekend, I saw the aftermath of a guy that must have been paying attention to something else while he rear-ended a minivan with his street glide. He looked more shocked than banged up..but the bike looked like it needed major work.
Glad it was no worse than described and shown. Thanks for the insight. I will keep it all in mind. God speed.

Went airborne, slammed into the ground, somehow i ended up in a ditch full of water with the bike on my left leg.
Sore as hell, chipped bone in my ankle, burns, double vision, and tissue/muscle damage from the weight of the bike slamming my leg. I'm on crutches and banged up but alive and not too bad off. Bike is ****ed, flirting with a total loss. Repair bill is over $10,000 right now. Gotta love that insurance.
Saddlebags exploded, windshield is gone, seat destroyed, crash bars bent, gas tank crushed...basically anything that had paint on it is trashed. And yeah, my 1/2 helmet saved my noggin from some serious **** - CT scan was negative despite having a knot on my head a sore nose bridge and double vision.
***EDIT*** also, if any of you want to be a douchebag, just keep it to yourself. i don't need parenting from an internet forum, i just figured you homies would want to see pictures
Don't let the insurance lowball you cuz we all know they will try.
Don't know if your insurance co will try to total it but if not, and I'm not sure how it works in your state but here in Cali you can get the insurance company to write you the check for what it would have cost to have the dealer to repair your scoot then you can do it yourself, have someone paint it and either pocket the extra $ or use it for upgrades.
Word of advice - no more "storm chasing" for you...
Glad you're going to heal & there's no bike shortage so start shopping. Sux to lose your prode scoot, but now it'll be another unpainted canvas to personalize. Recover & ride on!
