I find that statement ny the dealer BS. To do the BB kit, didn't they change the cams??? You won't loose much oil from that, but some will come out of the cam chest, also a small amount from the rockers. I normally change the oil right after a motor build also, but even if you don't we check level and add as needed.
Yes they did add cams so I would think they added a little or at least checked it.
Thanks for the info. Prior to the BB I changed the oil and put 3.5 quarts of oil in according to the service manual. I ask the dealer if they added oil when they did the BB and they said they didn't but I'm wondering if they may have now.
I've never had any problem with the dipstick prior the BB but maybe it needs to be changed. I just find it odd that it happened just after the BB.
I don't know if it makes a difference but I didn't hit the rev limiter. I ran it maybe at three quarters just to get a sense of what kind of power it had.
They did a big bore kit and did not change the oil when they were done are you kidding me
Picked the bike up from the HD dealer and it ran fine. They couldn't explain why the dipstick blow out and confirmed they didn't add any oil, which I find odd. They say they ran it for 50+ miles to try and recreate the problem and couldn't so they didn't check anything else on the bike. Live and learn. I'll find a different place to have work done.
I plan to drain the oil and put new oil in within the next couple of days.
If you don't put the vent valves in correctly in the rocker covers this can happen. They may have corrected this (if not to much oil)and then told you the story of the ride (this hardly ever happens-50 mile ride, takes to much shop time).
