Need help with a fuel problem
I'll try and keep a long story short.
I've been smelling exhaust fumes pretty bad lately while riding. Mainly at highway speeds. My bike was dynoed after I installed my 98 kit from GMR. I use a PCIII. I've put about 8000 miles on since the build. The bike runs strong and flawlessly.
I did a 500 mile weekend trip two weeks ago and really noticed it during this trip. I got home and parked the bike. I pulled the plugs yesterday and to my surprise they looked lean and I had heat 6 threads up the plug. This confuses me??
The tip of my D&D FatCat is black like the bike is running rich but the plugs indicate the bike is lean. My fuel mileage went from 35 ish to 30 MPG all of the sudden. Again the bike runs strong.
I'm wondering if I have a bad fuel injector? Maybe it's spitting fuel and certain ranges causing a rich condition and bad mileage.
Any thoughts???
