Thoughts on vibrations......
My 2002 Dyna Low rider has the usual - what I assume are - Harley vibes, but it also has a secondary vibe which appears at around 2800 rpm. I've not thought too much about it because the bike's not run in yet - anyone who's read my past posts will know I got this bike a few weeks back with just 54 miles on the clock. The bike came fitted from new with stage 1 SE pipes and the SE air filter plus dynojet. I know it's running a bit rich because I've dragged the plugs out after a long run and they're a bit black and sooty, but up to now the idea is to get it run in then sort it - poss by taking it to a place about 30 miles from here that has a dyno to set it up properly.
Anyway, to relate a little story. When I had my previous bike - a Honda VFR800 V.Tec (Interceptor in theU.S) I was out with the wife earlier this year on one of our favourite day ride routes over the Yorkshire Dales ( I live in England by the way). We had to stop for fuel and ended up in a little garage in a village. About 5 miles after re-fuelling I noticed the bike was starting to run very rough, and it continued to do so until the tank was down and I re-fuelled at a local filling station.
Now back to the present, I was out a few days ago on the Harley and thought I had enough fuel to get me to the next decent sized town. But, as I was about to find out, the fuel gauge on this bike gets to half way then drops like a stone, so there I was miles from anywhere in need of petrol. I had no choice but to head over to the same garage where I'd put the fuel in the V.tec months earlier, as it was the nearest to get to. Once again, within 5 miles the bike stared runing rough - just as the V.Tec had. The vibes are now right the way through the rev range making the bike very uncomfortable to ride, the exhaust note is different as well, it sounds weak and it's lost that Harley "rumble" also performance is down a fair bit. We have fuels here in the UK now that have a small percentage of Bio fuel mixed in with them. Mostly they are sold by supermarkets and I suspect that this garage sell that type of fuel. In France the garages there have now been forced to mark the bio fuel content pumps clearly because not all vehicles run well on it.
The tank of fuel in my Dyna is almost gone now, but I'm waiting to refuel it til it's gone over to reserve then I'll take it to a decent garage to fill it up. One good thing to come out of it is, given the problems the bad fuel has caused, it's made me pretty certain that the vibes at 2800 ar pee ems are most likely fuel related, so hopefully I'll be abe to "tune" it out when the running in period has passed
Sorry for the long ramble - just thinking out loud really
Cheers

Since you mentioned that bio fuel is being forced into service stations (petrol) that couldbe part of the problem. Another question is this, how water do you figure is being introduced to this fuel, on purpose or accidentally? I'd stay with name brand, reputable petrol. Why not use your resettable trip meterto monitor your fuel useage? Hd gages are known for their many problems. Good luck with your "new" Dyna. I'm not a big fan of the dynojet kits.
