I currently have the Rinehart TDs on a 95" build with 510g cams but I'm getting older and the pipes seem to be getting louder. Thinking of putting on the Stealths because of the EPA stamp.
Anybody have any recent experience with them?
I listened to the You Tube clip but didn't really have a good idea of the sound. How is sound, very subjective I know.
I changed out my Monster Ovals for the Bub's. These Bub7 Stealth's are just as deep sounding and as throaty as the MO's but about 1.5db quieter at the muzzle, which may not sound like much but it is a lot. I find these a lot easier on the ears and I care more about what I hear than anyone else around me. It doesn't hurt though that they have the EPA/DOT stamp on them too.
Looking at going with the Bub 7 Stealths here also, I want tone but not loud.
They are not designed to be used with catalytic equipped bikes. Make sure you choose slip ons that are. They will still sound good but creat a wicked buzz until you remove the cat.
Let me know what you think of the Bubs. I have the same desire as you. When I removed the cat (2010 Ultra using Fuel Moto headers), the stock mufflers became too loud with a nasty drone at cruise. I have tried the Fuel Moto 4" with quiet baffle and while the mufflers look and sound great, the volume out of the left muffler (one without the quiet baffle) is still too loud (old age and ringing in the ears sucks). I am currently using a set of 2007 stock mufflers which are the right volume but it would be nice to get a lower tone (like the V&H).
There has to be a solution for us old farts who don't necessarily agree with the "loud pipes saves life" crowd. While they may indeed save lives they also destroy my hearing and p*ss off everyone else.
I have used the bub 7 stealth on both my 09 Classic with 21 cams and my 2011 with 54 cams, no cats and the sound is great especially at cruise. Everyone we ride with complanes it is to quiet, I say good as I pull away.
The 2011 I am using the V&H power Dual header and sound is perfect, I do not enjoy loud, usually 15,000 miles a year.
