I've been told two different things about how to perform the test. Do you need to remove all the cables etc... to get a true reading? It would seemthat the clutch, throtle, brake lines etc... would create interference and corrupt the test. Any thoughts?

4. If the clutch cable or main harness appears to be influencing swing momentum, proceed as follows:
a. Clutch cable: Disconnect clutch cable at hand lever. Release cable from P-clamp fastened to upper fork bracket (FLHR/C), remove from inner fairing (FLHT/C/U), or release from cable clip on instrument nacelle (FLTR). See 2.23 CLUTCH CABLE if necessary.
b. Main harness: Remove screw and P-clamp to release main harness from right side of steering head.
i was going to tighten the front steering bearing today. can anyone advise on at 08 Ultra, do i only need to remove the ignition and the inner fairing lower cover to get at the steering head?

The neck tightening bolt I believe is under your radio, so you have to remove the outer fairing only.....If you have a long enough open end/box wrench to grab the nut and tighten it while swinging the front end, you should be good....If I'm wrong, I'm sure others will chime in...
