road glide outer fairing issues

OK so here is the deal. Got the outer fairing in and lined up. Tightened up the screws and acorn nuts. Thanks for all the info guys. I did take out the head lights to see the groves in the outer fairing, it seemed easier than trying to fight with it and not be able to see where things should line up. So now I can get the two bottom screws on the headlight assembly into their respective positions and get them to lock into place, but the single post at the top of the headlight assembly is being hard to deal with. I have tried lining it up and pushing into place, but it isn't locking in place, ( I think I am close to having the shaft line up with the hole. I have back off the screw a couple of threads to see if that would help, nothing. Does anyone have any tricks up their sleeve? I don't think I could get the fairing on without the headlights being out, because I had to really play with the fairing where the head light holes are. Thanks for any suggestions.
