I just replaced my tires due to that same noise (2010 Ultra Limited - 14500 miles). The harder I would lean, the louder it became. I thought for sure it was bearings, but after I pulled the wheels, the bearing were fine.
I replaced the Dunlops with Metzlers. I don't have the noise or the smooth ride, but these tires are great in the curves. They really hold firm without any wobbles, but the ride is rougher. I'll probably go back with Dunlops when these are worn out.
Here's a picture of the rear tire. I am sure this is where the noise originated.
It's the tires. I change rear tires every 10,000. Front at 20,000. If you have 17 on your rear I'm sure you need a new tire. With that said I start hearing what your describing at about 8000 on the rear. They are Dunlops.
Yep another vote for tire cupping, the dual compound tires wear funny. They say it doesn't hurt anything, but then what would you expect them to say. Look at the rear tire from almost square behind and you will see the cupping.
How in the world do you get 17k on a rear tire and still feel safe? I never got 10k on the 407. Went to ME880 with 10k now. Hoping to get about 2500 more but I change tires before they are worn out.
Just lately my 09 Ultra has started making what sounds like tire noise when turning. Happens when turning either way but louder on a left turn. I checked the tire pressure and added a few pounds to both front and rear as both were a little low but still have the noise. Both tires appear to be wearing evenly. About 7K on the front and 17K on the rear. I looked in the manual for bearing service intervals but no info on re-packing them so I guess they're sealed?. Bike has 27K on it so I don't think the bearings should be an issue anyway.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
R0ckie
Just had mine (09) serviced at 9904 miles. got a new front tire with the TSB about cupping and two new bearings also at $20 each.

That and some of the other post got me wondering.
2009 Street Glide with original Dunlop rear tire with a little less than 18K miles on it. Went out yesterday when I got home from work and took the tire tread depth gauge out to check. Visually the tire looks fine and after checking the tread depth in three different locations this is what the tire gauge is telling me.
Will be taking the bike in this weekend for it's state inspection and we'll see what they tell me.
