If the fuel was on and spark disabled it would go BANG when the spark was turned back on. Like in the old days when we`d do a "key job" with cars.

it turns off the fuel at the rear injector, the change in smell comes from the cat having more 02 on it...the system works by pumping relatively cold air into the rear cylinder which cools it off, and when you think about it, it acts like a oil cooler also, as the oil from the whole motor travels to that cooler cylinder area (just like it travels everywhere else in the motor)..it seems to me to be a good system for the motor and the rider..a win/win situation..as far as being able to turn it off, I think that is for people who do a lot of zero throttle driving (think parades and such) where the lack of power etc. may be an issue...

I stand corrected on the fuel being injected into the cylinder. However, I did find this on Service Bulletin M-1191, which can be found here:

http://www.cvoharley.com/yabb2/Attachments/M-1191.pdf.

It states:

System Function:
"When engine temperature reaches a pre-determined point,
the EITMS will turn off the rear cylinder fuel injector. Idle
speed will be maintained, however the rear cylinder will
become an “air pump” which will then work to cool the
engine. The conditions required for this to occur are:
● High engine temperature
● Engine must be at idle speed
● Vehicle must not be moving
● Clutch lever must be pulled in or transmission in
neutral
When these conditions are met, the rear cylinder will stop firing until one of the conditions listed above are no longer met.
If the vehicle is moving, the engine temperature drops, the
throttle is opened from the idle position, or the clutch is eased
out while in gear the rear cylinder will again fire normally.
When the engine is in EITMS mode you will notice a difference in idle cadence. Additionally there may be a unique
exhaust odor. These are both considered to be normal conditions"

FWIW. Call off the dogs and let's go for a ride...

It is pretty simple,
You need to try it out for yourself and see if you like it. You might be like Navy here and think it is C.R.A.P. or you might find it is cooler than sliced bread.

Navy the only reason people are jumping on you is because you were spouting false info.

I'm not sure why anyone would be against a system designed to help your engine live longer and save you $$ but that's just me.
