Did a search and tried to open the original post from 2008 but it wouldn't open for me. Anywhoo, I was cleaning my whitewalls yesterday, the Mr. Clean magic eraser worked OK but did not get the whitewalls sparkling white like I wanted. Didn't feel like going out to Autozone to buy the Wesleys or whatever the whitewall cleaner stuff is called. Looked around the house for anything that would work....
My wife recommended Oxy Clean laundry stain remover, it's in a pump spray bottle. Worked great!! Whitewalls are now really nice and shiney
I did spray it down with regular water after the Oxy Clean to remove any residue/leftover cleaner.
Best of all, she buys this stuff at the local Dollar Store for $2-3 a bottle. For you guys like me that like to save a few bucks, give it a shot. I now keep a bottle of this in the garage next to the lemon Pledge
I use only Wesley's Whitewall Bleach. I have a small spray bottle and a big refill bottle. It lasts for years and nothing can beat it with a brush. The Whitewalls always come out sparkling white and look great.
Back in the fifties I used SOS Brillo soap pads which worked great. Showing my age but sometimes old school works best. Today I use Simple Green which works well too.
