As for turning AVC off, which amp are you using. Typically, the amp vendor says to turn off the AVC to prevent damage to speakers if the volume automatically is raised to levels that may cause speaker damage. Running AVC at modest levels (i.e. modest change from low to high, say 2 bars) doesn't pose a problem.
