Pull the gauge and see if the float is saturated with fuel.
You have to work it around a little to remove it from the rubber.
While your at it,manually side the float up and down(with ignition on) and see if the gauge registers from full to empty.
I had to re-solder a connection on my uncles RK.
It's been a while and can't remember exactly what.
I do remember that it was obvious.
