Default 2000 Road King

Hello and thanks for your time in advance.

I've looked around and haven't found the answer and am going to apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong area.

I'm new to the Harley world and recently got lic and purchased a Road King about 2 weeks ago that has a color that I'm not a fan of. It was a good deal so I'm going to drop some money and get the color that I want.

I have the opportunity to buy parts off of a 07 in pretty good shape but I'm not sure if they will fit my 2000. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Again!!
Steve

2000, road king or road king classic ?, fuel injection?
If fuel injected it will be difficult because 2000 is m & m fuel injection and not delphi.
M & M has two hoses at bottom of tank.

Might be cheaper to just paint the bike.

Thanks for the replies, its a regular road king and it is fuel injected.

I have a guy who says he could do the removal and install for about $300-400. The new parts are basically unused and only $500 minus bags. So figured I could sell my parts and make up some of the cost. Painting it I'm looking at $1200 or more plus the 300-400 for removal and putting back together. So could be close to $2000.

Sounds like those parts are not an option and i need to look for 02 and older?

Any touring bike, at least for the most part are interchangeable from model years 97 to 07. Please don't tell us you have that awesome concord purple you want to change LOL. I just had mine repainted same stock color and paid right at $1,200.00 which included more than just a great paint job but fluid changes and a few other issues as it had an accident of sorts (storm related). In short, if you are really wanting a paint job I would talk to some local bikers for recommendations on shops and try for a better price. Best of luck!!!

If you're gonna go to all the trouble of changing tins, then just take yours off and get them painted the color you want. It's not that difficult to take your stuff off,get you a manual, you'll need one sooner or later anyway. You can find those on ebay. You can remove your tank emblem and fender trim to help in the tear down costs. And while you've got all that off, detail everything there. Another nice addition would be a bike jack(sears,jc whitney, harbour freight, etc) remove your wheels to get at the fenders easier. You'll end up with a color you really really like! There's posts on here about removing your tank by the way.

I certainly thank you for the advice and unfortunately it is cobolt blue aka purple and I live in Ravens country and I'm a Skins fan. So its kind of hard to swallow.

I'm looking for two colors either a black or a burgandy and I have a guy willing to sell me his pretty much unused black cherry tins for $500. So it was something I had to entertain as it would be a color I would be very happy with.

I'll price it out and see if I can get some better prices.
