Default Cough

I have a 05 Elec. Glide Classic. It had a cough it wanted to stall out taking off and some times at slow speeds plus it sucked gas at no end about 75 miles to a tank. Well I thought after it got broke in better it would be fine. Took it in for it's 1000 mile check up told them what was going on. Well got the bike back and the mileage is a lot better over 200 miles to a tank and most of the cough is gone. But it stills like to do it mostly when I have a rider on back, They tried to tell me I was lugging the engine down and to keep it at around 2000 rpm. Well that does not sound right. Went to a owners meeting last night at the place I got it. Talked to the dept head of service he says bring it back in they will check it out again. It has fuel injection plus a stage one kit in it. Any ideas what it could be? Went riding today it did it about three times once it just about stalled out fell right on its nose. This is the first Harley I ever had. My first bike was in 68 jap bike plus a lot more after that. But this Harley just love it don't know way I ever did not get one sooner.

When you said they said to keep it at 2000 RPM, do you ride lower than this? If so you are lugging your engine badly and will destroy it. I keep it at 2-2500 MINIMUM.

Are any engine lights showing up? If so the trouble code will be stored.

You can let it idle at about 1000 RPM's and you should keep the RPM's at 2000 or greater when riding. Lugging the engine will cause premature valve knocking and valve wear and ultimate engine failure. Your dealer is right. Stay in the throttle and run that motor and you should be fine. Don't ride the clutch and you should get rid of your cough.
