Apparently my radio crapped out, I have power to the unit and can see the info but no sound. I checked the amp (Firecap's Arc Audio) and speakers they work fine.
I just wanted to get an idea of what you guys are doing as an alternative. I can get it repaired from Iron Cross but has anyone installed a unit with the pop up navigation screen?
Do they work good and hold up to the vibration? Any pictures of the finished install would be great.
The pop up nav screens work good and may hold up to the vibration, but when one of our "South Georgia" thunder storms sneaks up on you, it's gonna get real ugly real fast. Your best bet is to stick with a waterproof radio. The one you have is a pretty good one.
How did you check your amp? With the amp hooked up, your radio is only supplying an input signal. I would look closer into what's going on with the signal after it leaves the radio before I determined I had a bad radio.
You should be able to rig a temporary wire to a speaker and into the speaker wires coming from the radio (after pulling the fuse from the amp, of course), and see if the radio plays sound. That would be a simple way to narrow down the problem and eliminate faulty components.
