As an alternative, simply rent a bike for the weekend when you get the itch.

That will also allow you to ride several bikes RK, Street Glide, Road Glide, etc. before you buy.

Just because you think your body proportions will fit a particular bike, does not mean that bike will fit you.

Just a thought.

Did think about that but there isn't a place to do that in Nowhere, AR and the closest to me is 3 hrs. away. Plus $100 a day seems a little steep for a rental.

two wheels are two wheels. If you like the V-Star go for it. I just bought my first Harley last fall. It was what I always wanted, but I rode Yam's and Honda's until I decided to bite the bullet. I got a fantastic deal on my used 06, and jumped on it.

If a Harley is really what you want, you can find a nice used one for about the same price as a new V-Star 1300. Your decision.

I had an 03 V-Star 1100 before I bought the Street Bob I traded in for my 2011 Street Glide. V-Stars are good bikes and are very reliable. Ride what you can afford and buy what you want when you can. That's what I did and being in the wind is what it's all about.

The bikes in the Star line up are good bikes. My favorite is the Roadliner. The Stratoliner is bigger but the roadliner handles better.
I would have no problem ridining a Star.
Get what you can afford and have fun. That's what it's all about.

What do I do; buy the Star or wait for the King?

FYI I might be able to turn that title into a sermon. Inspiration is everywhere.

Seriously? What possible answer to your question do you expect to receive from 99% of the folks on a H-D forum?

Personally I say get the bike you can afford. Because the RK will be sold sooner than later if you cannot afford the bike. I bought a '98 Shadow Aero back in the day brand new because I could not afford the H-D I wanted, and still miss that bike. It was awesome and got plenty of complements from the H-D crowd.
