Default Just purchased

I just got an Ultra classic last week. 2010 with 4800 miles. It's a beautiful bike and rides great. I sold a BMW K1200Lt to get it. I have two things I'm looking to improve. Head buffetting is terrible and exhaust heat is hot. What has anyone done to help these to be better? Taller windshield or the recurved one I've seen? I do love the look of my bike. I've only put about 600 miles on it the last 5 days so I'm not hurring to change things until I'm sure what I want to change. Thanks.

Get a taller windshield and aftermarket exhaust headers, or remove the catalytic converter from the stock header. Aftermarket pipes help also.

You can spend hours if not days researching threads on this board alone, about those 2 issues.
The windshield, with research and taking riding position measurements, you can make an educated decision but ultimately may go thru a few shields to find just the right one.
If you wear a helmet, thats a whole other issue.

The heat....get rid of the cat, possibly true duals, stage 1 and a good tuner. Heat shields from several different companies are available, I like "no more fried thighs", a sponsor on this board.

Congrats on the new bike!!

As to the buffeting problem, look into a diff windshield. I got a Clearview 9.5 inch with the recurve built into it and like how it directs the air up a bit.

And to the exhaust, HDs are a hot bike but I too did some Fuel Moto stuff. got the Jackpot headpipe that does away with the catalitic coverter. that this really makes heat down there near your rt foot.

Definitely go w/recurve w/s & maybe taller (depending on your height). Gotta get the CAT out of exhaust so either search the forum for removal instructions, send off for CAT gutting, or replace w/aftermarket exhaust. Then add tuner to richen 'er up a bit...between all three (shield, exhaust & tuner) you'll be pleased. Enjoy the new scoot & ride safe!

Congrats on the new purchase. I would be happy to help fit you for a proper sized recurve windshield. Our shields are strong, durable impact modified acrylic. Outperform any shield on the market and are much cheaper. I can even give you a 10% discount for being a forum member. Give me a call. James 7753313789

As for the buffeting issue, I ride with a Baggershield and experience absolutely no buffeting in the tall position. But in hot weather or cruising speeds, I just flip it around in the low position www.baggershield.com. Also, I just added the Freedom Wings this year they really help with the air coming in from underneath www.freedom-wings.com . Here are a couple of pics. Now for the heat issue, I would recommend an oil cooler if you do not already have one. I added the Harley oil cooler two seasons ago and took care of the heat issue. Hope this helps!
