So, today the BF and I signed papers on a new 2010 FLHP - could not pass up the deal. Traded in his 04 fatboy and should be picking her up on Saturday. Purchased from Ronnie's HD in Pittsfield MA. and she was sitting there for a while so they gave us a great deal. 103 engine, abs, Texas paint scheme (sorry no pics since I took them on my phone and they wont transfer over here for some reason). She's a beaut. So, I know there is an issue with the warranty - searched on here last night and found out about that. Told the dealer today -they didn't even know about it so I made them throw in warranty for us to cover us for the year that the warranty is going to be expired during (Thanks for that info boys!!) Anyway, are there other things we should know? They assured us that the tires are not an issue on this bike - I even checked the rating myself and they are the same as on the other touring models so I think they are good to go. If there are any other things we should know, please fill me in. I realize parts may be a bit difficult to find but she is SO AMAZING we are willing to search a little bit if we have to for the good stuff. I promise pics when I get around to lugging my camera around - probably Saturday when we pick her up.
I almost bought a FLHTPI. The reason tires are different is Police bikes have run flats which are thicker and can rub if 2up. Don't know if true but you should check.

Not 2010+ bikes. My local dealer has a 2011 FLHP available. Only if it were a FLHTP, I'd be riding it.
I bought a new 2009 FLHP at a local dealer and really love it! I had them add the HD cruise control (don't let them tell you it can't be done). My bike does not have the "run flat" tires on it so no problem riding "two up". The license plate bracket which has the two blue lights was in one of the saddlebags and, because it is not legal for civilians to have blue lights on a bike, I changed the blue to red, which I bought at O'Riley's for just a couple of dollars. The blue lens just twists off the the red lens replace them. I believe the police air ride seat is the most comfortable motorcycle seat on which I have ever sat, but I eventually had to replace mine, because of the seat height. I went with the Mustang seat and drivers backrest and it is lower and almost as comfortable. In my opinion, the Harley police bikes are the best value for the money. A lot of "upgrades" at a lower price than a standard Road King.
The tires are fine as they stated-when the frame change was made in 2009 the stopped using run flat tires from the factory on police bikes. As for parts you can get just about anything you want-if its something you can't find at dealer try squadfitters they equip all the hd police bikes.

Ride it a bit on a closed course or parking lot. If you have never ridden a police bike, it is a different ride for slower maneuvers. They handle VERY well (many say better than their sister model), just take a little getting used to.
Also, if you have never had a bike with ABS, you need to read up on it a lot. You do not let off ABS once you engage it and the control will vibrate. Freaked me out a bit when it engaged the first few times on gravel.
Congratulations on the new bike. I have a 2009 FLHP and love it. There are a lot of upgrades on the police bikes that really make them great values. I have not had any issue with parts fitting.
Thanks for the info guys. I didn't know about the license plate bracket. We are having them switch out the seat. Too high for the man to reach - had to sit on toes to reach ground - but they're throwing in a two up for us and passenger brackets. I may even take a ride or 2 on this baby and it that is saying something. Hard to get me off my own ride. He did find her VERY nimble when he took her out for the test ride. Was very surprised at just how maneuverable she really was. I can't wait to try her out myself. Roqadglidenut, I will try out squadfitters. Thanks. Cant wait for Saturday to get her. Going to DMV to get her registered and just waiting for the new seat to come in so we can bring her home!!!
You may want to check out http://www.retiredpolicebikes.com/site/ for specific info on Police models. I have an 09 I bought brand new and striped down to what I call an FLHTPX Cop Glide. I suggest picking up the Police parts manual. There are a few differences from the stock FLHP's and FLHTP's but I wouldn't trade my bike for anything.

"FLHTPX" is my license plate. As suggested, get the 2009 Police supplement parts manual. I'd also suggest the 2009 HD Touring Service Manual, and Police SM Supplement. The Touring SM and Police Supplement are most useful for the wiring diagrams they include which are helpful when making mods that involve electrical (e.g. handlebar switches, cruise control, etc.)
