Default Combination Digital Speedometer/Analog Tachometer ?

Has anyone purchased this modification?
http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

I'd like to have a tachometer on my bike without adding another gauge on the handlebars. This looks like a good option. My only concern is will I loose the trip A & B plus the clock with this unit?

If anyone has this unit please let me know if I will still have these features with the new unit. Also let me know if you like it and did you install it yourself? If so, how did you set the odometer?

I had ordered one last year. It was on back order for several months, I finally gave up on it since I had to update how many miles I would have on my bike by the time the speedo combo came in.

You won't lose any of the functions you listed.

A better choice is the newer speedo combo that came out this spring. P/n 70900072. For $299.95. It has all the stock functions plus it has a GEAR INDICATOR from first gear all the way up to 6th gear. It also has 600 different color combinations and a analog tach. This one comes with a data cable so you can down load the exact mileage your bike has to the newer speedo. This is the one I got.

I got mine when they first came out,the dealer set the mileage on it for me. The trips, clock, everything is the same as the stock one.I really like mine, the only drawback is at night the red dial light glares on my road kings windshield.

Cptdenny,

Thanks for the heads up on the other gauge! The catalog I had didn't list the Road King as an option for that unit. Once I went to the H-D website they had it listed.

I think that's the one I'm going to get.

Raffel, my pleasure.

I'm glad I didn't get the last year one.

The only problem I have with the new one is that my wife wants the speedo colors to be purple and blue, (GAY!) and I want Green with Red pointers. Since she sits behind me, her vote don't count. >wink<

I've been running this on my RK for over a year. All the original functions still work and the mileage was factory set when I ordered it. Installation was a 5 minute job, very easy.

The newer gauge that was mentioned has some neat features, but if your main goal is to get an easy to use tachometer it's hard to beat this one. The tachometer is much larger with more detailed gradations, and it's positioned high up so it's very easy to read at a glance. Compare the two.

I solved that issue by installing a speedometer visor.

I ordered the one with the smaller tach. I likely. The looks of it better. Dealersaid it may be here by Friday. Mileage is suppose to automatically update when the unit is plugged in, COOL!

Thanks for all the info. I'm going to look into a visor.

Dealership called at noon and my part was in!

I rode in and picked up the new Speedo/Tach. It was a breeze to install and it may be the best mod I've done on my bike yet!

The new added features - tach, gas gauge, gear display, LARGER LED display for trip A & B, clock, and mileage, and last but the coolest - COLOR for everything, dials, needles, LED display.

I got the aluminum spun dials and they look great during the day and the color lighting at night is great! I'm sure glad I put the question out on this forum about this unit. I would have settled for the first one with large tach and digital speedo. I like the combo needles!

This has made my dash go from boring to WOW!
