Default Bar suggestions?

Not the boozing type of bar. Already know about those.

I have an '05 Road King Police. Since it is a police model, it already has the heritage bars. However, I am having a hard time getting comfortable on them.

I have put about 500 miles on it since I started riding it two weeks ago. Mostly just riding to work and back (45 minutes, one way). By the time I am half way to work my right hand is numb and my shoulders are getting tired. I have an arthritic right shoulder.

I think I need bars that come back a bit farther toward me and put my wrists at a different angle - either more perpendicular to me or more parallel to the bike. I dont think an inch or two higher or lower would make much difference. Right now my hands are a couple inches below my shoulders.

I am 6' 2" with fairly long arms. A knuckledragger.

Any suggestions to help me narrow down my choices?

Look at Wild 1, they have a few different bars that might fit your need. Maybe a 14".

Take a look at http://www.helibars.com. I just had a set installed at Laconia and they totally eliminated any discomfort I was having. Pricey, but the adjustability eliminates the possibility of the bar not being right for you. I love my set and got a great deal at their booth.

If you want something that will get your hands closer AND be parallel with the bike (ie....wheelbarrow), take a look at the touring pullback bars. I had em on my 02 Ultra.

Damn.. you got my hopes up thinking this was a booze thread!

What CSI said.. the touring pullback bar works great at moving everything closer.

To bring the handles closer to you...and rotate your wrists in.....RK beach bars....there are RK 1's and RK 2's.....I forget the numbers. I did not have to get new cables either.

Thats what I have....click on my name...look at the pictures of my RK.
They took a little getting used to on the slower-tighter turns...but I love them. I am very comfortable with them now.

I hate to ask the obvious, but have you rotated the bars to come closer to you which would drop the grips a bit? Simple and no cost, but easily overlooked...

The bars could not be rotated back much, if at all. Even if they could come back 2 or 3 inches, I would still have the problem of wrist angle.

Anyone have pictures of the touring pull-back bars on a RK? Would I need new cables with them?

When you search, try ape hangers. There is alot of pics and info there. Different threads to review. Even look under Dumb Apes Bagger.
I just got all items for my Wild 1 16s. Gonna start working on them. I ordered new wire instead of extensions. If I ever decide to trade my 07 King in, the old bars are going back on, keeping my Apes. You are tall enough for 16s. I ordered mine from Phat Performance, a sponsor here. Quick shipping.
