Default Irritating noise please help

Alright so we all love new bikes and I do love mine. However there is an issue that is just driving me insane.

When my bike is running or I am riding down the road there is a vibration chatter coming from the rear fender area. It gets louder with more rpm. Ive messed with the license plate. Taken the bags off. Checked all bolts. Etc etc.

Can not find where its coming from or why... I am going on a weekend trip here soon and do not want to listen to it to and from states.

Any ideas please help.

Shoot a little silicone lube on the thick rubber ring that the muffler mount goes through.

Assuming that fixes it, next time you're in the mood, replace the rubber mounts (the silicone is a temporary fix - You can also jam a rubber washer or two between the rubber and the mounting plate with a screwdriver).

(EDIT)

Hmmm... A 2011...? Shouldn't have hardened rubber so soon. Still, give it a shot.

I read that somewhere else it just doesn't seem to be coming from that low. It really sounds like its near the license plate mid fender section. Unless its vibrating up that far or something. Thank you for replying I will try that as well. Its definitely a light metal metallic sound though.

I had a very similar "issue". Mine turned out to be one of the mounting brackets at the bottom edge of the rear finder. One, right side, had about 3/8ths of an inch of clearance and the other had about a 32nd. The one with a 32nd vibrated against the fender as I accelerated. I took an old fuel injector o ring I had in the tool box from some car and stuck it between the fender and bracket along with a drop of super glue. No more noise.

If its a street glide check the nuts that hold the fascia to the rear fender 3 on each side, this happend to me,i had checked tag, bags, mounts, exhaust turned out to be the right lower fascia mount nut just a little loose, last thing i checked.

I think I had the same problem, it sounded like the license plate was rattling against the fender but that wasn't it. Turns out it was the right side of the rear facia that was rattling against the fender. There was a piece of rubber between the two towards the bottom that had worked its way out of place so I loosened the three nuts, repositioned it and tightened everything up. No more rattle. Remove the saddlebag and tap on the facia with your finger, you should be able to locate the source.

Good luck

Check the tail light/license plate bar - it's not unusual for it to vibrate loose - held in place by 2 nuts just inside the fender easilly accessable with a wrench - if not caught it would pound the fender to death!
