Default Chrome Front End Touring Models

Is $509 for an installed chrome front end package a good price?

For my bike the kit is $440 from the dealer, so $69 to install it sounds good to me.
I'm sure you could get the kit cheaper online, but $509 still sounds like a good deal.

You can do it cheaper by taking off the fork lowers and getting them and the cowbells chromed and then reinstalling it. I did mine last year, but got the lowers and bells from HD for a few hundred dollars. It was a pretty easy job, but I did have at least 10 hours into the re and re.

The pic of the front end off is in my photo gallery here if you want to look.

Honestly it took me 6 hours to take the fairing, gauges, lights, signals, wheel, brakes, etc off, mark all the wires so that I knew where to put them back etc. The reinstall was much faster, but put in a couple of extra hours cleaning all the parts before putting together.

4 hours is BS....a decent tech can do it in 1 1/2 hrs (without rushing). Remove wheel, fender, outer fairing, stereo, do the swap and button it up!

I do not know what book is on a touring fork seal job, but I am willing to bet flat rate for a fork seal job is around 2 hours maybe more. And that is usually underrated. thats what your essentially doing when doing the swap

There are 3 rates....book warranty rate....book shop rate....best rate, when you have a pro do it in your own garage and see how long it really takes....$40!

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that I painted my inner fairing at the same time, so that took me some of the time to remover everything.

That is a real good price; I paid $700.00 out the door at the time of delivery. Just a note if you have the work done before you take delivery you get the full 2 year warranty on the work (not just 90 days).

Just remember there is extra cost associated with chrome Front End Kits from Harley (fluids and gaskets not included) This would take the total cost to around $500.00 with sales tax. Shop time is around 4 hours.
