I stay in gear, so when the traffic starts moving I can get going too....and so I don't have some Chevy driving up my azz ! I only put my CAR in netural if it's a long light because it's an automatic and on hot days you can burn your ATF. If somebody hits you from behind, netural isn't going to help you much.

Clutch pulled in, 1st gear, and minimum of 2 prefer 3 escape routes if someone starts to rear end me. I have had to take the side of the road to avoid a car rear ending me. Monitor your mirrors while at stop lights.
