Always in gear - head and eyes moving, watching the mirrors and ready. Well, always in gear anyway, often times I get sloppy, but that is what I strive for.

In gear, foot on the rear brake and hand off the front brake just like I was trained. Seems to be the best way to be prepared to make a move if necessary.

For those of us that went through Riders Edge we already know the answer to this, for those that haven't, always in gear, watching mirrors and allow enough room in front to escape in the event of a rear collision from the cager coming up behind us.

On a bike or in a cage - Clutch in. Can't get away in neutral! Gotta always think 3-4 steps ahead. Kinda like playing chess.

It depends on if the light has just turned red and if the person in the cage behind me seems to be alert enough not to just run into me. Otherwise I will be ready to take off if things don't look good.

It's a good question for this reason; if you are hit from behind while in gear you are most likely going to lose your grip on the clutch and if so, you have a bike moving forward on its own while dragging you a long for the ride. If in neutral, the bike cannot move on its own and you may have a chance to step off. Of course, this all depends on how hard you are hit so it may not make much difference. If boxed in, as others have stated, neutral is fine. My opinion !
