having an older bike (the boattail) i know how hard it is to get parts sometimes.. so i was i was wondering.. am i the only one to buy cheap take off parts in the advent i'll need them 50 years from now?
i've gotten complete parts like stock exhaust, heat shields, pipes etc for my flhx and other stuff for almost the cost of shipping... etc.. they're in a box squirreled away in the basement or attic....
same for saddle bags and what not...
was just wondering if i was alone in this as i peruse the forum in search of other things i may need someday.. who knows maybe i can make a complete bike soon.
Got spare VB tank, wrinkle black horn, derby cover, dash, grips, pegs, fairing and I can't all remember what all else for my 01 T-Sport. Picked up on EBay for nickle and dime ten years ago.
Starting already to search for the limited. Yep hoarding, squirrelling or what ever. Did English before, tanks, instruments, exhaust, what have, cheap plus postage(except for stock green 70 Triumph tank with chrome trim). Got three sets of stock teal blue first year tins for my 75 GL1000 for $35. Garage, basement, large 20X24 granary and 2 sheds full. Yep its hoarding.
You have to. I like to buy NOS for my ironhead and stick it back for when I'll need it. I'm finding out that it's much better than the Taiwan Ted junk.
I just picked up a header set with the crossover tube and heat shields for $30. Can't pass that up.
cross overtube and shields?...hmmm.. need a boattail fender? lol as far as boattail spares.... got a few... got some 4 gallon turtle tanks and some old bling.. like the generator cover, etc...
