Took a short trip this weekend up to Lake Tahoe with the wife. Was bringing out my things to put in the saddlebags, and......no room. Just for a day trip, she took almost all of the space. We have a big week long trip coming up soon to Monterey. I don't think I will be able to bring anything! And of course, yes it's the same for our closet. Very nice size closet, and I have a couple of shelves and maybe 2 feet of clothes rack.
I know this is very stereotypical, but how many of you have this trouble, and how do the two of you deal with it? 1 bag each and that's it? Pull a trailer? I may have to do that if we can't lighten our load considerably. What do you think?
I added a detachable tour pack , luggage rack and Nelson Rigg touring bag. Problem solved. Trailer is not a bad idea either. probably not much more than the detachable tour pack, rack and bag. Friend just bought a new trailer to pull behind his SG for around $1700

I just tell mine "You have one saddlebag and whatever fits in the tour-bag on the luggage rack. If it doesn't fit, its not going. No, you can't use my saddlebag. Yes, I know it's half empty - but we're only going for a weekend - how much do you really think I need?".
Been working pretty well so far. If she wants to come, she doesn't over pack.
Now, for a week, you may want to add a larger bag on the luggage rack, or get a tour pack. Also, i find that zip-loc bags (space bags or similar) help immensely with cutting down on volume. You can pack about 2x as much if you stuff it all in zip-loc bags first and then get all the air out.
Here's a tip for the week long trip. Use the "if it fits it ships" boxes that the USPS has for flat rate shipping to mail home laundry. Boxes are free and the shipping rate is cheap. Lets you free up space for the stuff that you will be buying along the way.

That's pretty funny. We have started talking about a bike of her own and are starting to look. It will still be awhile. Hopefully by this time next year for her. Can't wait for that.
I once shipped clothes as suggested above during a two-week trip. It worked great. Before my trip I contacted a couple motels where I had reservations. They provided me shipping instructions for my package and they gladly held it until I arrived. I found a local FedEx center for the return.
