Default Hard bag lining idea / question.

Ok I did a search on hard bag liners. I don't think I wanna do a "cloth or material" type liner for my bags. But if I put anything "hard" in the bags that item ends up gettin powdery from the inside of the bags. Like the bags are drying up.

Has anyone ever done a spray on bed liner inside the bags or a rubberized undercoating? Any reason for not doing this? And if it matters, they are police bags!

Thanks for any input.

What would be the reason for liners? If it's for noise from stuff rattling around in there (can't think of any other reason) why not line them with thin foam sheets that you can glue in place?

The simplest solution is to use a "cloth or material" type liner! They have handles and can be used daily and will protect anything you carry. Had mine for longer than I remember. Harley makes them, also after-market brands are out there. Save yourself time and effort and get a set!

I think you could do a rubberised coating, no reason it wouldnt work.

I run the saddlebag organisers, they keep stuff from rattling around in the bags.

The main reason I wanna do a spray in type liner is because of the way the inside of the bags are drying up. I wanna stop that now. Also I do wanna get a set of the bag liners that pull out with handles, long as they work with the latches on police bags. I have some rubberized under coating in the garage, that I might try.

Spray liner is a good idea, just don't get it on the paint!

I have 2 kinds of bags (one set from Harley, that we like a lot)...they fit nicely in the hard bags. You can take them in and out easy. Another set my wife made...she just sewed up some soft cotton bags with cotton rope closers. We use these for dirty clothes while touring. That way you have clean clothes and dirty clothes seperated.

Watch that Rubberized Undercoating. The last stuff I bought like that was more like tar, it stays soft and will rub off on your hands.

Auto parts stores and WalMart sell a can of Spray Bed liner, use that if anything.

As for the Hard type luggage that Harley sells fot those bags...They are Great for travel, but too much trouble to just have them in there all the time. They must be taken out and laid on their side to open them.

The soft liners (with handles) fall in and flop around if they are not full. They open from the top and don't need to be removed to be opened.

Good Luck,
Ken

As long as the chemicals in the liner don't react with the material the bags are made from it should work. I wonder where the powder is coming from?

I put some glue in liners I got off eBay. They worked pretty good but if I where to do it over again, I would purchase the Harley Davidson liners for this reason; you can pull they out and clean them as well as the inside of the hard bags. With the ones I put in they cannot be removed without major work plus it would destroy the liners. The Harley liners are more expensive but in the long, much better.

Here is the description and price:

92189-06
Fits '93-later Touring models equipped with Original Equipment color-matched hard saddlebags. Does not fit Police model saddlebags.
MSRP US $149.95
