I bought an enclosed trailer to haul mine on very long trips etc. If you look around you can find one at a pretty good price. I paid $2000 for mine used. I just prefer to put mine in an enclosed trailer to keep it clean and not to mention I don't have to worry about anyone messing with it at hotels etc. One more advantage is that you can also camp in the trailer at places like sturgis etc. Just my two cents
Check out http://www.cargocraftinc.com/ They make awesome trailers and maybe you can find a used one.

I picked up one of these a few weeks ago off craigs list. Not very expensive if you can find a used one. http://www.kendonusa.com/trailer_dual.html Might work and stores well.

I made a block from some wood with ends I can screw on to it , I put it under the frame and then tighten the forks down tight against the wood, put the side pieces on the block to keep the block from moving out from under the bike. This way the forks aren't full compressed and the bike can't bounce any, also put a 2x4 on each side of the back wheel to keep the rear end from moving around. This works really well and you don't have to worry about your forks.

I don't have a truck or a trailer so I have to ride if I want to take my bike some place.
